Why should I have to sign a letter saying I want to disassociate ?
by troubled mind ini don't understand why the elders want this letter so badly ....for one i don't remember signing a contract to become a jehovah's witness ,why do i need to resign ?.
also i was baptised in 1978 before the baptism questions changed , i dedicated myself to god not an organization .
my vow was to follow the direction by holy spirit as revealed to me through the bible, not the watchtower ...... if i belonged to the luthern church and quit going after three yrs they drop your name off the member list ........but if i chose to come to easter or christmas service everyonre would still talk to me i just wouldn't be a member any more .. .

Hello all ....I just noticed this thread had some fresh posts so I thought I would respond .
Bane,
You have NO idea what kind of 'concern' these brothers have shown . If they truly displayed loving Christian 'concern' they would not have waited four years to stop by and lovingly seek our association once again . Rather they waited until they thought there might be a sliver of a chance to dump us officially to 'stop' by and shepard us .It was the Elder that brought up the idea for me to disassociate . He did not address my questions with any sincerity . Even though he started his discussion with "We miss you and want you to come back " ,at the end he admitted... the real reason for their visit 'was to find out if I was now celebrating Christmas '.(a disfellowshipping offense ) I told him then I refused to discuss any personal matters with him .
My husband made it clear during their visit he is spiritually hurting and lost ........yet after the visit all the phone calls were directed only to ME, and about discussing further 'concerns' they had . You need to understand when an Elder uses that term 'concerns' he is really saying, " We think we have something on you that is considered wrong doing and we want to guilt you into submission ."
If there was true Christian love and Holy Spirit motivating them ,they would have called my husband ,and offered support ,and guidance to him . In four years no one came and offered a kind word to him ,not even his own family that includes two Elders ! ( We had been part of this congregation for over thirty years ,always faithful ,always in attendance . ) We have caused no problems ...just walked away .
They then began calling my house multiple times ,leaving messages for me to call back ASAP . They came to my door multiple times ,and we refused to answer . If someone does not answer or return your calls wouldn't you get the hint they don't wish to talk to you ?
Finally I did answer my phone and reiterated once again that I would not answer personal questions about my life with them . I formally requested at that time for the Elders to cease contact .
How many times should a person have to ask to be left alone ? When the Elder called again ,acknowledging he had been told of my request ,choosing to disregard my wishes .......Is when I decided to make it legal ......WHAT choice did they leave me ??? I no longer recognize their supposed authority ,and I WILL not be intimitated .
So Bane .......I can not explain any clearer . The love and concern you speak of is NOT what I was experiencing .What I was feeling was badgered .
I have no ill wishes for these men . I only require they repect my personal right to privacy .

How much texting is reasonable for kids?
by moshe inour daughter is going into 6th grade this year and it seems she just started texting last month.
six months ago she rarely talked on the phone and now our home phone rings all day long.
today, she ran the battery down on our cordless phone and it died in the middle of my wife's phone call to her sister.

Moshe ....make sure your phone plan really means "unlimited" We found out the hard way with Verizon that unlimited really meant 5000, and our son went over !

I would call the man that said he is ill . However if the conversation with him turns to personal questions about you ....beware and DO NOT GIVE ANY ANSWERS ......Keep bringing the conversation back to his illness and your concern for him .

So is this a new way they are trying to place literature ??
by troubled mind ini was at the 'dollar general' store this morning and in their magazine /book rack was a brand new "greatest man" book ?
i picked it up and looked it over and sure enough published by wtbts .....no price tag affixed so i assume a witness put it in there as a placement .... i took it to the check out clerk ,and told her "this is not a sale item , jehovah's witnesses publish this book and leave it with people free of charge " she just shrugged her shoulders and put it to the side ......

"Armageddon is Weeks Away" Phrase...Is WT pushing this phrase more recently?
by mentallyfree31 ini'm wondering if this phrase is perhaps being pushed recently in letters to the elders or circuit overseers.
i have heard it a time or two here in the last few days on the forum - specifically from a bethelite.. also, the last conversation i had with my presiding overseer about 5 weeks ago, he used this exaxt phrase: "i believe armageddon is only weeks away".. i know its been right around the corner for 130 years, but it seems this exact phrase seems to be floating around a lot lately.. what are your thoughts?
jw's usually don't think for themselves - they just repeat what those above them say.

Armageddon has already occurred .....it was just invisible to our imperfect human eyes .
Oh you ungrateful ones ,soften your stiff necks, and look around at the beautiful 'spiritual;(invisible) paradise you are now in .
Rejoice our invisible King is ruling in his invisible Kingdom over our invisible paradise right this very moment !
